Halloween

I've always loved Halloween. As a little kid I would be a pirate or ghostbuster and hit the hot and humid sidewalks of southeast Texas.

Since I became a photojournalist, I've always had to cover some kind of Halloween event - from church get togethers to treat or treating on Halloween night. Last year, I followed the children of Galesburg, Ill., as they trick-or-treated at local businesses. Since moving to Seattle I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find the first ever Harvest Festival was like a living breathing Norman Rockwell painting. The Harvest Festival shut down the main streets of the Junction and opened it up to a farmer's market along with booths manned by local businesses in the center of the street. Children paraded around the block with the West Seattle High School marching band leading the way. I never have seen so many unique hand made costumes before at any other event.
